Senior Software Engineer · Liverpool

Gregory
Fox.

I build and modernise production software with .NET, working across backend systems, web applications, payments and legacy platforms.

Currently Jonas FinTech Senior Software Engineer · Jul 2026 – Present
Gregory Fox

Building on the same practical approach to software, now shaped by more years of production systems, migrations and real-world delivery.

Current & recent

Recent work,
real engineering problems.

My recent work spans financial-software modernisation, ecommerce checkout, backend services and the delivery work needed to keep production software dependable.

Legacy financial-software modernisation

Tracing existing behaviour through UI, application and database layers, then moving it incrementally into a newer .NET architecture without treating "it builds" as proof of parity.

Engineering + AI

AI improves my workflow.
It doesn't replace engineering judgement.

I use coding agents and connected project context to understand unfamiliar systems, plan changes and reduce repetitive implementation effort. The output still has to be correct, maintainable, tested and consistent with real system behaviour.

01

Understand

Explore unfamiliar and legacy codebases, dependencies and workflows without pretending static analysis is runtime truth.

02

Plan

Turn requirements and existing behaviour into traceable implementation work before changing the code.

03

Implement

Use Claude Code, MCP and reusable workflows to accelerate repetitive, well-defined engineering work.

04

Validate

Check generated changes against source behaviour, tests, provider constraints and human domain knowledge.

Engineering capabilities

What I work across.

The recurring engineering responsibilities behind my work, from backend design and data integration through to delivery, quality and modernisation.

01

Backend & APIs

C#, .NET, ASP.NET and application/API design.

02

Data & integration

SQL, Entity Framework, external services and data boundaries.

03

Product engineering

Customer-facing web applications, React and TypeScript where the product needs them.

04

Delivery & production

Cloud environments, CI/CD, monitoring and production support.

05

Quality

Testing, code review, maintainability and behavioural validation.

06

Modernisation

Legacy systems, incremental migration and preserving what actually matters.

Testimonials

A few kind words.

Carl Ball
Greg was not only easy to work with, but his communication and integrity was also excellent. He met every deadline, and offered some sound suggestions that added to the quality of each of our projects. Because of this we were able to complete a project that generally takes six weeks in only four weeks.
- Carl Ball, Front End Developer Print Logic
Scott McGee
Greg, was a diligent and thorough developer during his time with MyCSP. Greg took part in a range of projects such as improving data integrity, web development and testing and ensuring new IT solutions were ready for Implementation. Greg constantly went above and beyond his role. He constantly helped other team members on a daily basis in addition to taking on the more challenging projects we faced. He was an essential part of the team and was crucial in enabling us to deliver results to clients in the tight time frames we faced.
- Scott McGee, Software Developer - Ardent
Nick Heath
Greg takes a great deal of pride in what he does and works very hard to achieve the exact results the organisation is looking for. He comprehends instructions quickly and is flexible when changes have to be made to the original plan. He is dedicated responsible and has never missed a deadline for our organisation.
- Nick Heath, IT Manager - Tapiit LTD
Samwise
Greg is a great team player, always sharing his food and providing belly rubs when needed. His timekeeping skills are excellent and he wakes up promptly each morning to feed me breakfast which is much appreciated.
- Samwise, Good boy
